In a shocking declaration, researchers have linked methamphetamine use to a disease of the heart muscle called, cardiomyopathy. Researchers carved out this association after studying patients aged 45 and younger discharged from a medical center in Honolulu, Hawaii, with a diagnosis of cardiomyopathy or heart failure revealed a high prevalence of methamphetamine abuse in this population.
Through the same study, Yeo and colleagues concluded that the odds of cardiomyopathy were 3.7-fold higher in methamphetamine users compared with non-users.
Actually, this is not for the first time when methamphetamine or meth has been linked to health loss but previous studies have also associated it with life threatening health problems.
