exercise improves survival after heart procedureIf you are 70-year-old and an exercise-freak, you have enough reasons to boast on your habit. Your habit of maintaining higher levels of physical activity later in life, can survive you through heart attack at a rate greater than those who idle-out with aging.

The survival rate after subsequent angiography to clear the coronary arteries is also higher among the physically active elderlies.

Researchers in Italy and the U.S. found that walking, gardening or cycling each day can eventually keep, not just those heart diseases away, but also strengthen survival power after an attack.

Dr. Dario Leosco, Federico II University, Naples told Reuters Health,

An active lifestyle is an independent predictor of survival in elderly patients who have undergone primary angioplasty for the treatment of acute myocardial infarction.

With cardiac deaths found to be nearly 29 and 23 percent among the low and medium activity groups, in respect to just 8 percent among those in the high activity group, isn’t it wiser to the refreshing and healthy way to keep heart attacks away, then stay vulnerable and fearful of the killer-diseases?

Now, you have all boosting reasons to go for that morning or evening walk, or plant a small garden in front of your house, especially after your retirement.
