
Malice and aggressive politics in giving birth to more and more, both regional and global wars and hence trauma to the inhabitants. The war veterans with symptoms of post-traumatic stress disorder are found to be at greater risk of heart attacks with their aging.
These new findings are revealed by studying 1,946 male veterans of World War II and Korea. This is the first time; a link has been established between PTSD symptoms and future heart disease!
It then, eventually, joins existing evidence that vets with PTSD also have more autoimmune diseases — like arthritis and psoriasis. Another study have revealed that soldiers returning from combat in Iraq — suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder - have reported worse physical health, visiting more doctors and missing more of workdays! To make this Army-funded study, 2,863 soldiers one year after combat have been surveyed. It appears in Monday’s American Journal of Psychiatry.
The first study was funded by the National Institutes of Health and the Department of Veterans Affairs.
